<p>After fighting for decades for recognition of their treaty fishing rights, the Quinault Indian Nation—located on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington—now exclusively manages the northern razor clam harvest on their reservation and co-manages the harvest with the state within their treaty area. This fishery is rated green for environmental sustainability by Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program thanks to a strong management plan rooted in both traditional knowledge and modern science. This highly effective blend of management systems includes regular population assessments and strong policies to prevent overharvest.</p>
<p>There is a widely held theory that our British honey bee couldn’t exist without being domesticated by beekeepers. However, for bee conservationists like Matt Somerville, this theory is ludicrous. He has spent decades admiring free-living honey bees nesting in tree cavities and they are under increasing threats from commercial beekeeping, loss of habitat and other violences of the modern world. So Matt decided to do something about it. For the last 14 years he has spent the winters creating his log hives before driving around all of England in the summer, erecting them as minimal intervention homes for wild honey bees.</p>

But now, under growing legal pressure from environmental groups, the ranches are being phased out. Leaving the Point amplifies the voices of Seashore residents, who are most impacted by the changes in Point Reyes National Seashore.</p>
<p>Park County Open Lands is Park County’s first locally led land trust, established as a program of the Jackson Hole Land Trust in early 2023. Less than a year later, Chuck and Marilyn Walker partnered with Park County Open Lands to place the program's first conservation easement on the Four C Ranch.</p>

Weaving ancestral knowledge, scientific understanding, and passion for her sport, we follow Ellen’s journey to help her community reclaim its place at the forefront of the stories told about their homelands. By dismantling barriers to accessing snowsports for Alaska Native youth, she empowers a generation to reclaim their relationship to the land in hopes that the mountains can teach them what it will take to endure the fight to protect their culture, language, and home forever.</p>
