3rd Eye – Find your Fate

FILM Germany 2025 · 10 min
Govar Studio & Ugo Dossi

You can enter the interior of the virtual sculpture through its exterior forms. This opens onto an infinite night sky dotted with stars, an astronomical universe in the heart of which visitors seem to float. They are surrounded by swirling signs evoking strong symbolic resonances. When prompted, these signs approach and combine to form a personalized oracle for each visitor. A voice broadcast in the headset interactively guides the various steps of the procedure. Visitors can grasp these oracle signs and return with them to the familiar world, coming from space and the model of the world. With Third Eye, they perceive the structure of their universe and glimpse aspects of their own future. Third Eye is the latest work by Ugo Dossi, whose installations have been presented twice at Documenta and the Venice Biennale. His collaboration with astrophysicists from the Excellence Cluster Universe at LMU and the Max Planck Institute has already resulted in numerous works revealing a common source of inspiration between art and science.

Patikulamanasikara

FILM Taiwan 2022 · 5 min
Tuan Mu

The work takes after a traditional Buddhist practice; Patikulamanasikara, reflections on repulsiveness. As if conducting an anatomical dissection by intent of thought, through the “contemplation of impurity” the Buddhist disciple takes those which make up his own body — the organs, fluids, and filling tissues — as objects to meditate on. With this practice, the disciple develops a feeling of abjection towards the body, breaking away from the preoccupation of the flesh. Patikulamanasikara builds a metaphor for the mutual reference and involvement of humans’ inner anatomy and virtual technology. As “the beating heart becomes the number of frames per second that the image flashes, and every gesture turns into the calculation of inverse kinematics.” It sends the viewers’ virtual experience circulating around virtual scape, body, and perception. At the same time, the practice of Patikulamanasikara reflects a certain understanding of the body. The artwork explores the physical self under the viewpoint of cyborg and post-humanism, providing another way to think about how the body is constructed, even imagined.

Shoelaces Science

FILM France 2024 · 3 min
Benjamin Wizman Louis Quémeneur

The film begins in the dark with a slamming door and the sound of Alma's schoolbag which she places on the floor. Alma, an 8 year old little girl. Her mother told her she was dyspraxic, she thought it was a super power but it wasn't at all. Alma leaves through the carriage entrance of her building. Looking grumpy, she crosses the street and arrives in front of the square on the sidewalk opposite. Arriving at the park, her friends greet her. Alma is not particularly cheerful, noticing that her shoelaces have come undone along the way, her friends start running towards the spider's web. Alma remains motionless and with a blasé look watches her friends running, and stares at the spider web located in the center of the park. She complains that her mother never ties her shoelaces properly and focuses on them. On a wide shot, she finds herself all alone facing the spider's web, which transforms (morphs) into a fairly large laboratory similar to a nervous system. Among all the types of knots she has studied, she searches for the perfect knot that she could replicate without problem and even goes so far as to observe the texture of the laces under a microscope. A child falls in front of Alma, she extends her hand to help him get up. He thanks her and asks her why she didn't join them. Alma remains silent, her friend notices her undone shoelaces, he offers to tie them for her. She accepts and joins her comrades on the spider's web.

Weave A Dream

FILM Taiwan 2024 · 6 min
Chen Bing-Han

A human girl lives with a fluffy stuffed animal. Their originally happy and warm time changes when the girl accidentally knocks off a button from the stuffed animal. Despite the girl's continuous attempts to fix it, the more she tries, the more the stuffing leaks out, and the stuffed animal's body becomes increasingly tattered. Eventually, the stuffing leaks out completely, and the stuffed animal disappears from the girl's world. People's daily lives are composed of various emotions, but the small feelings mixed in are often forgotten. Therefore, we want to capture these small sorrows in daily life as the animation's concept, highlighting the core issue: "When a beautiful memory ends, leaving only loss and confusion, how do we face it?"
