In Teenage Wasteland, Emmy®-winning filmmakers Jesse Moss and Amanda McBaine revisit a gripping chapter of local history, revealing a high-stakes story of civic awakening. In the early 90s, in Middletown, NY, a group of high school media arts students and their fearless teacher, Fred Isseks, uncover a disturbing secret: toxic waste is being dumped near their school. As the students investigate with cameras rolling, they expose a wider web of municipal corruption. Their documentary Garbage, Gangsters and Greed became a local sensation, showcasing the students’ dogged pursuit of truth with the force of veteran filmmakers.
