Gennariello Due Volte is an experimental documentary inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini's unfinished pedagogical text Lutheran Letters (1975), particularly the fictional Neapolitan teenager "Gennariello." Director Élise Florenty revisits Pasolini's ideas three decades later, exploring whether the imagined young protagonist—and the social, political, and educational questions he embodied—still exists in contemporary Italy. Through observation, performance, and essayistic filmmaking, the film reflects on youth, education, memory, and the enduring relevance of Pasolini's critique of modern society.
