A lone wolf has returned to the forest of a rural Swiss community. Following its attack on a herd of cattle, an obsessive gamekeeper is sent out to hunt down and kill the animal. The deeper the hunt takes him into the woods, the more he is forced to confront his own feelings of guilt, whilst, in the silence of the Alps, memories of a failed relationship resurface.
