A high quality and inspiring dramatisation of the story of the first successful pneumonectomy in 1933; a doctor discovers he has lung cancer and his surgeon and he deliberate over whether or not to operate. The real life surgeon and patient then discuss the importance of every man over the age of 45 having an annual chest x-ray to detect lung cancer. Finally, there is a sequence featuring patients (with their specific trades and occupations) who have had a pneumonectomy and made a successful recovery.
