Not all children know death must be spoken of solemnly. Children aged 3–10 walk through cemeteries and other spaces of death, talking with their mothers about religion, aging, sadness, and the value of life. Sometimes mothers guide their words, sometimes they let them speak freely—shaping an open understanding of death.
