The Modern Crusaders, 1958. A fund-raising appeal 'short' for the British Empire Cancer Campaign's research programme, which celebrates the heroic struggle of the white-coated 'mid-twentieth century crusaders' and their surgical colleagues against cancer. The voice-over is by an unseen male narrator who explains how much money is needed to cover the cost of the equipment shown. Filmed at the British Empire Cancer Campaign's Chester Beatty Research Institute at the Royal Cancer Hospital (aka Royal Marsden Hospital), Sutton, Surrey. Includes remarkable footage of electron microscopes, radio-therapy machines, etc.
