On the island of Luzon in the Philippines, an imposing tropical mountain, Mount Tapulao, harbors a wild biodiversity still largely unknown to science. A large Franco-Filipino multidisciplinary team, led by entomologist Eric Guilbert of the National Museum of Natural History, is embarking on the largest natural history inventory mission ever undertaken on the mountain. For more than three weeks, the scientists will crisscross the forest's diverse ecosystems in search of new species. Guided by experienced naturalist-climbers, these specialists will explore every nook and cranny, scaling the trees to discover the inaccessible world of the canopy and the strange flora and fauna that inhabit it.
