This Super 8 film is a journey through Chicago, which is also a study in color and black and white, the expired and the fresh, and fast and slow pace. I was looking at the city in the snow through Costa Rican artist Federico Herrero's installation, in the window of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and I wondered what the difference would be between shooting this gray landscape with color film and with black and white film. As Herrero creates a landscape with blocks of color, what landscape would I create with my two rolls of film?
