Dr. Liz Scott, a British epidemiologist, and a team from the World Health Organization race to identify and contain a disease that has broken out in war-torn Afghanistan. After the disease is identified as Ebola, her search into the outbreak’s origins puts her into conflict with allied forces, the local government and Taliban fighters. When the strain is matched to the 1976 strain, it is clear that the outbreak is an act of bioterrorism. Both NATO forces and insurgents blame each other for the outbreak, and Liz is forced to decide whether to risk the safety of her team to contain what could develop into a global catastrophe.
