Some objects are difficult to recycle because they are composed of multiple layers (sneakers, solar panels, batteries). At the ICMCB in Bordeaux, researchers are using supercritical fluids, a state between liquid and gas, to separate materials. Their surprising properties are opening up promising new avenues for waste recycling.
