You are invited to the Pre-game – a meditative, mixed reality experience that deconstructs the production of virtual bodies in animation and game engine workflows, set against the backdrop of American football culture. Animated virtual bodies merge fragments of reality with algorithmic abstraction. You move from a tailgate picnic to the perspective of the spectator in the sports arena, to the player on the field, and into an abstract, grotesque football pile-up. The piece was conceived in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where the directors worked as colleagues next door to the largest football stadium in the United States.
