Few know that the world's largest fossil forest was discovered by the PaleoMoz Project. Few also know that key fossils for understanding the origin of mammals were discovered by the same project in the remote Niassa Province, in northern Mozambique. In this documentary we follow the daily life of a team of explorers, geologists and paleontologists during an expedition in which unique fossils are discovered that will help to unravel our own origins. Mozambique contains a historical legacy in its rocks that tells a little-known chronicle, that of our ancestors and the world in which they lived. The rocks and fossils they contain report mass extinctions of cataclysmic proportions, all similar to the mechanisms that lead to climate change today. However, along with the scientific side of the PaleoMoz Project, this documentary tells how the first generation of Mozambican paleontologists is being trained, as well as how the foundations are being laid for science to be a base of tourist attraction to Mozambique together with sun and beach tourism. This documentary invites you to travel back in time over 250 million years ago, exploring a unique history and heritage yet to be discovered.
