Orfeo is the surreal directorial debut feature by Italian animator and visual artist Virgilio Villoresi. Inspired by Dino Buzzati’s graphic‑novel poem Poema a fumetti, it reimagines the myth of Orpheus in a fantastical, dreamlike Milan populated by stop‑motion miniatures, analog visual effects like zoetropes, and uncanny landscapes.
