The mountains of Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil, are hollowed out and gutted by mining activities in the region. Through editing, the director creates a connection with the French region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Although the area is geographically remote, like Minas Gerais, it was once a center of mining exploitation and is now being rehabilitated as a biodiversity reserve.
