Haunted by nostalgia for a place they have never known, three gallery workers steal a Mooi Indië landscape painting and set off in search of the paradise it depicts. As their journey unfolds, reality dissolves into a dreamlike passage where keroncong music, colonial imagery, and archival ghosts blur the boundaries between past and present. Conceived as the cinematic counterpart to the installation Silap Mata Bayang Berbalam and forming a diptych with Sola Fata, Obscura explores the enduring legacy of colonial representation and the illusion of an idyllic paradise.
