Laila visits her grandmother in her new apartment during a powerful storm, ostensibly to help her unpack. However, her ulterior motives gradually come to light as they delve deeper into that fateful night. They spend the evening together enjoying maqluba, reading Turkish coffee grounds, and confronting past traumas. Award-winning Palestinian-American filmmaker Mike Elsherif’s film presents a darkly comic, macabre Palestinian fable about two generations of immigrants grappling with trauma, displacement, and life in the diaspora.
