Fixing upon traces of the Finnish singer Elli Forssell-Rozentāle (1871–1943) in Latvia – a sad letter recited in voice-over, some posed photos – Elina Saloranta evokes the strangeness and unspoken traumas inhabiting past lives. We hear about physical and mental ailments that defied categorisation or treatment back then. The documentary elements are superimposed upon a puddle that reflects the moon, and the overall effect of this combination is both lyrical and haunting.
