Helsinki Music Centre – Prelude (2012)

This film is currently not available.

The architects of the Helsinki Music Centre, which opened in 2011 in the heart of the Finnish capital, sought to create a building in harmony with its urban surroundings and a concert hall with outstanding acoustics. The Centre features a 1,700-seat concert hall that accommodates Helsinki’s two classical music orchestras–the Finnish Radio Symphony and the Helsinki Philharmonic–as well as five smaller concert halls. Providing an overview of the creation of this Centre, a project that sparked vast debate over its high cost, the documentary features interviews with the Centre’s director, Helena Hiilivirta, chief architect, Marko Kivistö, and two young conductors, Dalia Stasevska and Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
