Strahov Stadium hosts regular mass gymnastics performances designed to demonstrate national unity and the subordination of the individual to the collective. Paradoxically, they draw on the tradition of the suppressed All-Sokol Slet gatherings. The regime uses the Spartakiads to embody and communicate its ideology, but as the context changes, their form and role evolve.
