"Chimaera" is a generative documentary inspired by its mythical namesake—a creature composed of disparate parts forming something entirely new. The film serves as both a simulacrum of a half-remembered past and an omen of an unsettling future. During his residency at Radboud Heritage, director Genee developed a philosophical and anthropological framework to trace the ideation processes of the university’s leading scientists, designers, and educators, seeking a shared epistemic thread across a diverse range of disciplines. In its initial iteration, "Chimaera" explores the extent to which we can dissect the phenomena of our reality—its objects, minds, senses, interactions, and contexts—before their essence slips away, and what new ideas emerge when we reassemble these fragmented parts.
