Interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity — these practices are essential to confront the global problems of civilization. However, they are not readily available in the “common” academia.
Interdisciplinary communication promotes the complexity of scientific knowledge and keeps academic impulses alive and fresh. The Santa Fe Institute, an independent research facility, supports it by bringing humanists and natural scientists together to find bridges between their fields and skills. The film presents the Institute’s members and their experience of this specific collaboration, at the heart of which is the willingness to engage in mutual enrichment through diversified scientific perspectives.
