Trapped between the terrorism of the official State and the Islamic State, a Syrian intellectual and a young Syrian photographer try to escape from a country that is crumbling. The former, Yassin Haj Saleh, had his passport taken from him decades ago and hence the possibility to leave the country legally; the latter, Ziad Homsi, has just exchanged the rifle with which he fought against Assad for a camera. For him, Yassin is an image of another Syria, for which he is willing to risk his life at all costs. There is a 32 year age difference between the intellectual and the young rebel, but their flight from the demons of their country bring them together.
