Color, light and shadow change on the surface of the forest as a year is condensed into minutes.
Aspect was filmed in a forest over the course of a year. Using photographic techniques like frame-by-frame shooting and long exposures on a single frame, the year of the forest is condensed into just a few minutes. Light, color and shadow travel across its surface and the film shifts from seeing the trees as trees to seeing the movement of light and shadow that makes the real environment abstract.
Fragments of unconscious forest sounds, ants in their anthill, the wind through the forest floor, the snapping of a twig, are reconfigured into an audio work by Benedict Drew, which articulates the film (and the forest) in an ambiguous and illusory way.
