The great poet Arseny Tarkovsky, born in 1910, outlived his son, the filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky, by four years. In those final years, his only solace was his encounter with a young filmmaker, Vyacheslav Amirkhanian, to whom he entrusted the last images and the last silences of his life. "You'll know what to do with this," he told him. Amirkhanian made this film, which won first prize at the prestigious Mar del Plata Film Festival (Argentina) in 2005.
