Celebrate Brain Awareness Week at Genspace and dive into the fascinating intersection of neuroscience and cinema.
Join us at Genspace as we celebrate Brain Awareness Week with an electrifying event: Brain in Film. Let’s dive into the fascinating intersection of neuroscience and cinema!
We will first explore the creative journey behind The Hidden Story, an interdisciplinary project by Arianna Zuanazzi (neuroscientist) and Yashaswini Raghunandan (film director and artist). The Hidden Story unravels how the brain combines different sources of acoustic information to create stories. We will then embark on a cinematic journey with a curated selection of short films exploring the themes of Memory and Experimentation. We will experience animation, scientific data, lab life, textures, human nature, misunderstandings, poetic expressions, acoustic encounters, and much more.
The development of The Hidden Story was supported by STEAMplant, a Pratt Institute grant program. This event is organized in collaboration with BraiNY, Labocine, and Sai Resident Collective.
Short films were created by amazing scientists and filmmakers as part of Symbiosis, a Science New Wave initiative supported by the Simons Foundation.
