About
Science New Wave has many identities: Movement, Lab, Festival, Experiment, Archive, Organism, Collective & Ecosystem.
The Science New Wave Festival showcases the latest crop of science cinema, featuring 64 singular works from around the world that experiment boldly with form and style. Celebrating its 19th edition in 2026, the festival takes place every October now exclusively on Labocine. Check out our past editions in our Playlists section.
Scientific storytelling is increasingly and fearlessly experimenting in form and style. Scientific stories are becoming more personal and hybrid, tackling issues pertaining both to the individual and the world at-large. Artists, scientists, scholars, journalists and educators are working together to create singular narratives. The boundaries between data, cinema and the imaginary are dissolving. Similar to developing organisms, science films are emerging with new traits and new forms.
