DOMESTIC INFELICITY is a Hungarian filmmaker tandem of Sarolta Szabó and Tibor Bánóczki. Sarolta Szabó was born in Budapest, Hungary. After graduating at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Photography MA / Budapest, Hungary / in 2005 Sarolta continued her studies at Royal College of Art, Fine Art Photography MA / London, UK /. Tibor Bánóczki was born in Sárospatak, Hungary. After graduating at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Animation MA / Budapest, Hungary / in 2005 Tibor continued his studies at the National Film and Television School, Animation Direction MA / UK /. In 2007 Sarolta and Tibor started their artistic partnership focusing on animated film projects. In 2010 they moved to France where they completed two animated short films LES CONQUÉRANTS and LEFTOVER which were selected in numerous festivals such as Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand. Both films were shortlisted to the César Award. WHITE PLASTIC SKY / MŰANYAG ÉGBOLT is their first animated feature film, which was selected in 2023 at the 73th BERLINALE International Film Festival, Encounters Competition. Currently they live and work in Budapest, Hungary.
