About

Maria Fernandez-Pello is a filmmaker and anthropologist from Spain. Her work often involves experiments with film, sound, and mixed media. Her current research explores the experimental use of live microorganisms to treat autoimmune conditions, and how these therapies are redefining the boundaries between the body and the world, the human and the nonhuman, nature and the artificial. Other research interests include sensory anthropology, operational images, ecological uncertainty, and elemental ethnography.
