Drawing on the figure of the zombie as both a Creole concept and a symbol of resistance, Julien Creuzet creates a vivid Afrofuturist landscape inspired by the legacy of Zumbi dos Palmares. AI-generated images of imagined statues appear alongside hanging sculptures made from colored plastic and metal, forming fluid, organic shapes that evoke a Caribbean imaginary. Through these layered forms, the work reclaims the word “zombie” from associations with death, returning it to its original Haitian vodou meanings of vitality, memory, and life beyond death.
