A Pedro Almodóvar film from the crazy 1980s in which the Spanish director brings us one of his protagonists who he positions as an everyday heroine. Almodóvar likes to explore the chaotic inner lives of women, including those who work as housewives. In this movie, actress Carmen Maura is one of those women, who is addicted to amphetamines, lives with a husband who doesn’t love her, has two sons involved in bad stuff, an unbearable mother-in-law, and her best friend and neighbor is a sex worker. What follows, nobody deserves that.
