In 2019 whilst working with Emily Burridge the virtuoso Cellist from Somerset on a piece she’d recorded in Chartres Cathedral we both discovered that we were at that moment fascinated by the appearance of water as the most ubiquitous yet the most magical substance in the universe. For us it is more mysterious than Dark Matter because it is here before us, seems irrelevant because of its ubiquity on this planet - and yet holds the secret of Life. So we set about discussing how we could represent this thing we were both so amazed by. For myself I felt I should actually use images of water as the basis for any visualisation - Emily recorded her ideas next to sources of water and somehow, together, we realised this piece which given what it originates from begins to look and sound like the beginnings of the universe we now exist within. When we collaborate we send ideas words, sounds and images back and forth and then the work, of itself, appears.
