Walzer is a virtual reality experience where you travel through a photographic landscape created out of thousands of historical women portraits collected by Leo Erken, with a waltz as your guide. When you move around, the waltz morphs into a variety of moods. Voices whisper, sing, yell, narrate stories, songs and poems in eight different languages. They want you to know about the rights of women from far away places, and to feel the power of the first wave of feminism during the late 19th and early 20th century. Opening in a thick fog, a sole balloon begins the journey, which features an original score by Frieda Gustavs – the waltz of the project’s title.
