A post-colonial "magic lantern" live performance by artist Htoo Lwin Myo, Time Will Not Tell reimagines colonial-era lantern slides to interrogate the ways in which colonial and nationalist discourses shaped the historical narrative of Myanmar (formerly Burma). Through live voice performances, archival research, and media archaeology, the work reconfigures these century-old visual materials into a semi-fictional, polyphonic counter-narrative that critically examines knowledge production and subject formation. Juxtaposing British imperialist narratives with contemporary post-colonial critique, the work invites audiences to engage with the lasting legacy of colonial imagery and historiography in Southeast Asia.
