Reality and projection bleed into each other in the Liminal Zone, a physical and mental space in which change unfolds. Director Rutger Wolfson – known to many as one of IFFR’s former artistic directors – portrays this metaphysical state of mind as a kind of psychedelic agony. Shot in grainy black-and-white and filled with delirious imagery and haunting sound design, the film follows the existential journey of a man tormented by the vision of a woman he knows from a previous life.
