A couple who are physically separated find ways to express their devotion and resistance despite the man’s imprisonment. He is based on an acquaintance of the filmmaker’s who was jailed after being found in possession of small explosives used in anti-government protests. Originally presented as an installation, this film uses screen divisions, choreographed movements and sound design to portray enduring bonds in the face of a repressive regime. It transforms a short story about a dystopian world where affection is prohibited into a poignant reflection on the human cost behind political struggle in Thailand today.
