Elli Vuorinen’s Still Lives is a stop-motion animation that interrogates this concept, creating portraits of ourselves that are animated to reflect the conditions of modernity. Museum artefacts including wooden models, painted figures on Ancient Greek vases, and a prehistoric statue, assume human form as they mimic the chaos of modernity, zeroing in on mundane activities and beckoning questions of existentialism.
