Slowly Nowhere is a film that uses variant repetition - a procedure through which one event is shown twice, only the second time it is more elaborately presented. What these two events have in common are the main characters Oleg and Marta. He’s a visual arts student, addicted to drugs, and she’s a librarian, addicted to many things. Their portraits are depicted like mirrors; when Marta looks in the mirror, she sees Oleg where her own face should be and vice versa. Episodes of wandering around the neighborhood, sex, promises, inebriation and death alternate in their adventures.
