One of the pioneers of Belgian cinema, Émile Degelin, based this short film, which could be qualified as ‘filmed music’, on the electroacoustic composition for voice and tape Omaggio a Joyce, by Luciano Berio, which is an interpretation of the poem Sirens, from Ulysses. The dreamlike atmosphere of the film won its director the Silver Bear Extraordinary Jury Prize at the 11th Berlinale.
