Reluctant to get up from her bed in the Netherlands, a lonely artist daydreams about the sunny weekends she spent back home as a child in Thailand: the taste of sea water, the texture of sand between her toes, the story of a mermaid with a golden comb, the fisherman who pines for her. By turns literal and oblique, Panida Petchara’s playful diaristic film is a lyrical reflection on the pangs of time and distance.
