Second Man traces the early history of digital human representation through the work of William Fetter. Best known for creating one of the first computer-generated human figures—an aircraft pilot developed for aviation simulations at Boeing—Fetter and his team sought to bring the human body into motion through film. The work also looks back to an even earlier figure: a silhouetted landing signal officer created for an aircraft carrier simulation, one of the very first humans ever rendered by a computer.
