The vampire represents death come to life. Such transformations form the central metaphor in this experimental short, which explores the tides of change within a landscape, a body and an identity. Channelling eco-horror and bloody exploitation cinema, filmmakers Lou Lou Sainsbury and Gabi Dao have created a haunting work set against the backdrop of a former limestone quarry and the sacred mountain grotto of Mary Magdalene. Employing expressive 16mm cinematography and a sensorial score, the duo trouble ideas about life and death, gender and parasitism.
