It was 1978, Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975) was a smash hit at the box office and Hollywood wanted something similar. Enters Piranha, the first in a series of B-movies to capitalise on the lode of deadly aquatic animals. Between horror, sci-fi and comedy, Piranha has gained cult film status. The plot involves, of course, genetically altered and deadly piranhas terrorising a summer resort.
