The inhabitants of María Elena, the driest place on Earth, were chosen to be the first to colonize Mars. The town is torn between the decision to leave, leave its roots, the heat, the economic debacle and the new promise of progress this time on another planet. The pampinos are preparing to leave their past behind and embark on a space trip, the last exodus from the nitrate pampas.
