The libretto of this opera tells the story of D., a young boy called to military service. Desperate to escape his fate, he seeks advice from the Mysterious Lake. It sends him off to seek salvation deep in the bowels of the city, where the march of autocracy will eventually engulf him. An anti-war musical work, resolute in its criticism of the political environment.
