Set in Dubrajpur (West Bengal, India) during the summer monsoons of June and July, Niishii – Night Worlds is an ethnographic film that attempts to capture the essence of the semi-urban night in a small town from its pre-electrification years as a village before 1958 to its radically altered present state.

What happens to a town after sunset? What happens to life and light? Traversing the realms of experience, imagination and memory, it presents the night as a distinctly active and affective space and time distinguished by the lightscapes and soundscapes uniquely crafted, altered and negotiated by its people as they move from one night to the next.
