Set in a dystopian laboratory basement, the story follows a girl and her botched clone as they are welcomed to their new family - their ‘parents’ (masochistic scientists) and their ‘siblings’, (the previous creations). In seeing this dark place through their naïve child-like eyes, for a fleeting moment they bring joy to their new home. Inspired by the works of Terry Gilliam and Yorgos Lanthimos, the film plays with science fiction, body horror and dark comedy. The goal was to create a story with a cruel sense of humour, and build a world that pays homage to 70s B movies by shooting 16mm and using stylised VFX.
