The film footage comes from the archives of the Odesa Film Studio. It was the first film studio founded in the Russian Empire. During the Soviet era, numerous films were shot here that shaped the childhoods of millions of people. Today, the film studio, as well as many other cultural monuments in Odesa and throughout Ukraine, is threatened with destruction by the Russian army. The music video shows dance moments from children's films of the 70s and 80s of the twentieth century. They are illusions of a carefree time, time of adventures, fantasy journeys and freedom. The Palestinian-Syrian multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Momen Shaweesh brings together the traditional playing of the oriental instruments oud and kanun with techno bests and sounds of the New Wave in a peculiar characteristic style. The video sequences together with the music result in a video essay about a time gone by. The appropriation of the footage serves to reclaim the shared childhood of the two countries. In an act of collective memory, the video invites the audience to seek their own experiences in these images.
