First part of the film: The Garden of Ages.
In China, in a mountain in Tsechuan, it is said that there once existed a stone which had children. After 87 years, she had become a rock and had given birth to a thousand similar small stones, wishing that they too would have descendants.
Other stones from China, shaped like an ear, are known to turn girls into boys.
Beyond their age difference, and the distance that separates them, those who dream of the same stone are in permanent contact. Fascinated by the same stone, their thoughts, their gestures, their desires end up merging. One day they will be gathered in a garden, called the Garden of Ages. This garden is described as the meeting, in the same place and at the same moment, of the four seasons of life: the spring of birth, the summer of childhood, the autumn of man who has become an adult, the winter of the old man. This garden is both indoors and outdoors, like a large house containing its own garden. Once united, the four end up melting into stone, immortal and ageless.
